Checker Bloom

Sidalcea malviflora

This is a wide ranging plant that calls many different ecologies homes. I have chosen to put it close to, but not in, the greywater basins so it receives moisture, particularly in the winter when my Sprinkler for this area is watering, but can be maintained as summer dry. This is my first six months with this plant so I am still seeing how happy it is to be in my yard, but the blooms make absolutely ecstatic. Currently the Clarkias are out competing this plant, so I will be removing Clarkias from this area and installing more grasses for the Sidalcea, Blue Eyed Grasses, and Plantagos to poke up through. At least, that is my vision, we will see if I get there.
